The best partner my hair and my whole being can have. Manuel is the Washington, DC version of the Monaco or Hollywood Iconic Personality who has the vision and the tools that will empower you to feel absolutely amazing. Manuel guides you in the journey of getting the hair you only dreamed about and thought you could never get (leaving these images for the hair that only Victoria Secrets models have or Hollywood celebrities). Manuel's Beauty Promise of walking with you in the journey of getting to the best version of yourself is absolutely mind blowing.
Manuel is an artist and a therapist to the hair who transforms it, no matter its current state, into a healthy, lustrous, amazing and the most striking of your assets. You can arrive after a hair disaster (elsewhere) praying for a miracle and you will get it or you can arrive wanting to get the best edition of your daily self for a red carpet event and he will not only deliver but excel your expectations.
When I am traveling abroad and I am on the road working and spending hours in an airplane, my chosen and most regarded reward for myself is to go straight to Manuel's chair for a piece of the divine. My hair is his entirely and is eternally grateful to him. Manuel is genuinely an empowerment experience that gives you a magical push to achieve your potential and save the world while looking fabulous and feeling more than ready for it.
Manuel is not only a VIP Service Experience or an Extremely Professional, Personal and Poised practice. Manuel is a transformational experience inside and out. There goes my secret.

OMG! Manuel should be classified as a national treasure for those of us who battle frizz. I have finally tamed my "big hair" with a keratin smoothing treatment that left my hair silky and is actually good for my hair. He offers the best Brazilian Keratin Hair Straightening in town as well as great color and cut. Manuel insists on using only the best products and KNOWS how to tame, treat unruly, frizz laden, color-damaged hair with care. TIP: Book your first appt on Tuesdays and get the first time client 20% discount. TRUST ME --you will be hooked! Tell him I sent you--Nancy Rose Senich
PS This quaint Zen inspired salon is off the beaten path in an alley off Wisc Ave in Georgetown across from the Chevy Chase Bank --so make sure to get detailed directions--and offers free Wi-Fi access too! Also, if you get hungry during your 2-4 hour treatment--order from Cafe Bonapart down the block

I work in Northern VA every month (live in MI). A friend recommended Manuel since I obviously needed a better haircut. I went to him, I'm a client for life now. He really understands hair -MY hair. Twice now I haven't been able to get back within 1 month (my hair grows fast) and the cut he gave me both times became something new and wonderful as it grew. That takes extraordinary skill. He also grasped quickly that I don't want to spend time styling, so he always gives me a cut that looks great right out of the shower, drip dry. He's so good, I "risked" getting hair color from him. Had resisted that for 54 years. His coloring is amazing - so natural looking. I teach across the country and have had many people ask where I get my hair colored, because those who knew me when I got it colored (and I knew i had salt/pepper hair) were amazed at how great it looked. It's no surprise he is TeleMundo's DC hair/makeup consultant (which I only found out when I walked in one day and they were just finishing filming him; he never brags about this stuff). His salon is impeccable, he works hard to keep it very clean and relaxing, and to be positive, upbeat and supportive to his customers. It's like walking into a spa. I'm so surprised to see the review from the woman who gave him 1 star. Her experience is so completely opposite mine - especially the part about not being able to work with his cuts at home. Of course, I have been going to him monthly for 4 + years now, where she went once and didn't go back. Anyone can have bad days, I suppose, but even still I'm wondering if there isn't more to the story. Manuel is very kind and I'd be very surprised that he would leave someone unhappy if he knew about it.

I went to see Manuel 5 years ago, after one of his clients of more than 30 years urged me to. I am 56 and at the time needed badly a "rejuvenation" style, to feel and look better. He just understood so well what I needed that I have been his client since. My hair is curly and I like it medium length to short. I always receive compliments on the color and edge to my cut but also on how nicely it goes with my personality. His products are wonderful and I use them regularly. Two years ago, I discovered a new facet to Manuel. I had breast cancer and the prospect of loosing all my hair and spend a few months figuring out what to do. He coached me all the way, advising on a wig, cutting the remnant of hair, through my first very short cut once the hair began to grow back.
Manuel is a professional, I have seen him work on other clients, with so many different type of hair, faces, ages and everybody leaves happy, satisfied, and when not, he fixes the problem. A client came to see him a few days after having her hair cut, a short, layered style. I was there. She did not feel as good now as the day she had it done. They went over, decided what to do, he did it and she left happy.

I have been a client of Manuel for the past 10 years, and I do not recall having left his salon unhappy. He is professional, caring, and committed to provide his clients the best service. His salon is a true reflection of Manuel's spiritual beliefs, and humble personality. He is full of energy, and has an engaging personality. He is a true professional not to mention that he also has the ability to keep all his clients entertained with fun conversations. Rest assured that you will not only leave with a great new look but also having met someone new, learned something new, or simply uplifted as Manuel is a great listener and a wonderful adviser. On a personal note, I call him "Santo Manuel" as he has performed miracles with my hair more than once! In short, if you have spent a lot of money looking for the right stylist; look no further, just make an appointment and give yourself plenty of time to enjoy his service, and a great new look!

Genius, pure genius. I have finally found someone who actually delivers what they say they are going to deliver. Manuel is an artist and professional who cares about every last strand of your hair. He took control of the entire process from correcting my color to rebuilding to the perfect shade of natural looking blonde. The cut was the icing on the cake. The process took time, but the bustling salon and attentive staff made the experience a pleasure. I was also impressed with the number of clients who were there who have been with him 30 years, 10 years, 12 years. That definitely says something about him and his level of consistent service.
I woke up this morning feeling grateful for finding Manuel. What a treat!

I just wanted to take a minute, sit back relax and enjoy my hair...
Something I was never able to do until 12 years ago when I met "MANUEL".....
He took my hair, a fryed, burnt out hot mess, fixed it effortlessly, with his talents and I am hooked for life.
He is not only the best hair dresser in the world, he is a friend.
From color, to kerotine, highlights whatever you need, he is a "Hair God"..
Make sure if you have a special occasion, get a make-up application,as he is also an award winning make-up artist!
Thank you Manuel....I have gone from Bad Hair Girl..to "ROCK STAR"..
He truly is the best!

I got the nanokeratin treatment done last week and LOVE my hair! It used to be curly and frizzy and if I wanted to straighten it would take 45 minutes, or else I would have to keep it wet to let it air dry to be curly. Now my hair is stick straight but still voluminus, it keeps style well, and is SO healthy! My hair is so shiny and great. Manuel and his staff, Jesse (sp?) were SO nice and the salon is so cute and quiet in its corner of Jones Court. Go on Tuesdays, everything is 50% off. Manuel's spirit is infectious, and I can't wait to go back! The nanokeratin is like the brazilian keratin treatment but better and Manuel expects my hair to stay healthy and straight for up to six months!
Love it!!!

Five local women, each with roots in a different culture, share the best beauty secrets learned from their mothers and grandmothers

Why her hairdresser is the second-most important man in her life: “For Argentine women, a hairstylist takes on a unique adviser role. Unlike your husband, he must be brutally honest about what looks good or bad. He keeps you in line, and he never holds back. There’s a real trust that goes into that relationship, so it’s not something that can be quickly developed. Once you find it, you’re loyal. I’ve been with my stylist, Manuel, at Manuel Hair Salon in Georgetown for six years and see him every single month. Even if I’m out of the country, I won’t allow anyone else to touch my hair because I’d feel like I’m cheating on him.”
Pilar Mendiola-Fernández, 40
Senior vice president, the Washington Center
Country of origin: Mexico
She’s been seeing the same hairstylist, Manuel Solorzano of Manuel Hair Salon, for five years. “For me, it’s not about what other women in DC are doing or what magazines or the beauty industry dictate,” she says. “It’s a discipline with myself, a relationship and respect for myself.”
